New Audi RS Q8
Let start this off with a quick 2020 Audi RS Q8 review. If you are familiar with Audi, then you know that their RS models are definitely worth noticing as they all have that extra adrenaline-pumping capability. The New Audi RS Q8 is the company’s largest RS product ever, furthermore, this powerful monster holds the record for the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring, so it’s darn fast too.
Whether you like the way New Audi RS Q8 looks on the eye and its futuristic elements, definitely depends on your personal taste, however, we can all agree it has a very sumptuous exterior, which successfully disguises the car’s size. Even the smallest details have RS written all over them. Starting with the pumped guards, which add 10mm at each side in the front and 5mm at the back tires, and wrapping it all nicely with an RS-according roof-mounted spoiler.
Looking beyond the luxurious exterior, we can’t go past the essence of this SUV, which is without a doubt its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 motor, able to produce 591 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine is able to get New Audi RS Q8 and its full 2.3 tonnes from zero to sixty miles per hour in an astonishing 3.8 seconds.
This beast of an engine is shifted by an eight-speed automatic transmission, which does a great and smooth job. This outperforming vehicle is surprisingly adaptable to any style of driving. Whether you just want a gentle cruise through the city while doing some errands or if you find a piece of an empty road and want to awaken the beast, it somehow offers an incredible experience in both cases. Its transmission and fabulous soundproofing contribute noticeably to making this possible.
We can’t write the 2020 Audi RS Q8 review without at least devoting a few words to its interior. If you are familiar with Q8’s interior, then there will be very few surprises for you in this area. Of course, the RS seats are there to hold you in position even in the coughest corners. We really loved the hockey-stick tachometer, which became relevant when we decided to push this beast to its limits.
Lamborghini Urus SUV Overview
Lamborghini Urus SUV is the vehicle that ignites a more exotic breed of hi-po SUV. At first glance, Lamborghini Urus SUV might seem like a posh king, thus it really surprises one with its versatile ability to tackle basically any road, even unmapped ones.
It is also surprisingly agile and super responsive. Impressive acceleration and top speed is something to be expected out of its 641 horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine combined with a standard all-wheel drive.
This SUV is able to fly from zero to 60mph in just 3.2 seconds and finish a quarter-mile test in only 11.4 seconds, which is without a doubt highly impressive for an SUV.
There are some extra options available to this model, including the Bang & Olufsen audio system and rear-seat entertainment. Off-Road modes might also be something worth investing in if you are a true adventurer looking to push your SUV off the paved roads. There are also the hands-free tailgate and the full ADAS package, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, lane-keeping assist, and more.
If you decide to purchase a Lamborghini Urus SUV, we do recommend getting all of the above mentioned. If you can’t afford Lamborghini in its full glory, it might be better to steer the other way.
New Audi RS Q8 vs Lamborghini Urus SUV
As we mentioned above, the New Audi RS Q8 holds the record for the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring. It was able to beat Lamborghini Urus SUV for 5 seconds, which was quite surprising, considering the fact that the Lamborghini Urus SUV has 50 horsepower advantages and weighs about 200 pounds less.
Aside from their tight Nurburgring result, Lamborghini Urus and New Audi RS Q8 actual share a common MLB Evo platform and the engine, as such they have a lot in common. They are both ultra-high performing SUVs, equipped with a 4-wheel drive and air suspension on all wheels, able to cover all terrains. All-wheel air suspension enables both SUVs for their height to be adjusted accordingly to best suit the terrain and driving style.
Driving experience with both SUVs is incredible. Considering their 2 tonnes plus weight, they both stick to the road extremely well even through the tightest corners. However, we must say that the new Audi RS Q8 does offer a lot of gentler experience when it comes to slow cruising, thus making it a much better choice for consumers, who plan to use this car for their daily errands.
Both, the new Audi RS Q8 and Lamborghini Urus SUV look amazing, there are no flaws when it comes to exterior and interior. Of course, one might catch your eye better than the other, however, they both have that futuristic-luxurious-sporty combination going on. Despite the fact that Audi as a brand ranks way below Lamborghini, comparing the two vehicles this is very hard to spot. Both use top-notch materials and designers paid attention even to the smallest details.
Between the two models, the new Audi RS Q8 offers a more versatile range of driving modes and is able to suit you perfectly in both sporty endeavors and city cruise, while Lamborghini Urus SUV will provide you with a better sports-car-like experience.
Considering one is Lamborghini’s and the other one Audi’s, you know where to expect a much lower price. Which is also a scale turning point for us. To get the same experience for about two-thirds to half of the price is a very convincing argument.
That said, we think the new Audi RS Q8 is a more optimal choice, however, if you are crazy about Lamborghini and really cherish the brand, then go for it. At slightly over $200,000 USD it is definitely the most affordable among the Lamborghini fleet.
